Hello, My name is Kari Zike. I will be teaching 5th grade at St. Bartholomew. My teaching qualifications were received from Cameron University, Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and at Northern Kentucky University, Master’s Degree in Education. I have 24 years of teaching experience. I have taught first through 5th grade. Much of my teaching experience is in the intermediate grades of 4th and 5th grade. I am coming from St. Barnabas Catholic School in Indianapolis, where I taught for three years. I am passionate about teaching, guiding, and shaping my students to be the very best versions of themselves. I have proven results and success with my students. My students are always amazed by how much they learn and achieve as a result of being in my classroom. My students also grow in their personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have a teamwork atmosphere and we all respect each other and treat one another with love and kindness as Christ emulates for us to do.
I was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. Both my mother and father were teachers, which led me to choose this career path as well. I have lived in the states of Texas, Kentucky, Colorado, and now Indiana. I moved to Indiana in 2019 to live closer to my daughters and grandchildren. I have three daughters: Laruren Zike (34), Brooke Riggs (29), and Madison Higgins (28). I have four grandchildren: Bentley, Brielle, Aria, and Luke. They are my world, and I enjoy spending time with them. My mother, Sheila Sanders, is moving to Columbus to live as well. She hopes to be a substitute at our school and to volunteer. I love to travel, garden, walk, ride my bicycle, and play with my friends and family.
My faith is very important to me. I am a Christian who strives to live a virtuous life. I believe wholeheartedly that God has led me to St. Bartholomew, and I am very grateful for that. To all of my parents, students, administration, and staff, I want to express my appreciation in advance. Let’s make this a fantastic school year!
